How Air & Power Delivered a Generator-Ready Compressed Air System for NRW’s Remote Site

Project Background

NRW, a leading contractor in the mining and civil sectors, needed a reliable compressed air system for a remote Castle Hill site. The catch? It had to run entirely off a generator, a common requirement in off-grid operations, but one that demands a carefully designed setup to avoid equipment strain, unstable pressure, or electrical faults.

Air & Power was engaged to deliver a complete, generator-compatible air solution that would run cleanly, safely, and reliably, without putting unnecessary load on the power supply.

The Problem

Generator-powered setups introduce extra challenges:

  • Power fluctuations during compressor cycling can trip systems or reduce performance
  • Voltage instability can damage components over time
  • Safety compliance is critical, especially on mining sites with strict inspection regimes

The customer needed a compressor that would integrate with their generator setup while also meeting site safety requirements, without the delays and cost of overly complex systems.

The Solution

Air & Power supplied and installed a complete compressed air system, custom-engineered to work seamlessly with NRW’s power arrangement.

Key features included:

  • Inverter installation to stabilise the power supply, ensuring smooth start-up and consistent running without generator overload
  • Whip checks installed on all hoses and connections to meet site safety and compliance requirements
  • System commissioning carried out on site to test operation under load and confirm generator compatibility

By integrating the inverter directly into the setup, we protected both the generator and the compressor, allowing for stable performance even under fluctuating conditions.

The Results

The outcome was exactly what the site needed:

  • Smooth, reliable compressor operation directly from the generator
  • No tripping, no pressure loss, no voltage issues
  • Safety compliance achieved through correct fittings and whip checks

The system was delivered on time, tested under real operating conditions, and handed over with full client satisfaction.

“Customer was happy we could supply a solution to their special site requirements.”

Why It Worked

This project worked because we didn’t just supply a compressor; we supplied a system built around the real constraints of the site.

By combining the right compressor with a matched inverter and safety accessories, we ensured NRW’s team could install the unit and get straight to work, without worrying about blown circuits or compliance hold-ups.

It’s the kind of problem-solving Air & Power is known for, understanding site requirements and building smart, efficient systems to match.

Lessons for Other Mining & Remote Site Operators

Running compressors off a generator isn’t always as simple as plugging it in. Without clean, stable power, many compressors won’t start properly or can fail under load.

Air & Power helps WA operators build generator-ready systems with:

  • Power conditioning via inverters
  • Correct compressor sizing
  • Safety compliance built in from day one

We design systems that don’t just work; they work where they’re needed, even in the most remote and rugged conditions.
