How Air & Power Delivered a Scalable, Full-Facility Air System for Truck Centre’s New Workshop

Project Background

Truck Centre, a leading heavy vehicle dealer and service provider, recently opened a new, purpose-built facility featuring multiple service rooms, a large sandblasting booth, and a dedicated powder coating area.

With a broad mix of air-driven applications across the site, Truck Centre needed a centralised compressed air system that could deliver reliable pressure, clean air, and long-term scalability. The project also had to integrate an existing compressor already owned by the client.

Air & Power was brought in to design, install, and commission the full system, ensuring clean, dry air wherever and whenever it was needed.

The Problem

Truck Centre’s requirements were complex, involving multiple zones, high air usage, and different pressure and quality demands across sandblasting, powder coating, and general servicing.

Key challenges included:

  • Supplying consistent, clean air to a large industrial sandblast booth
  • Running air lines and outlets to multiple rooms, work bays, and service areas
  • Integrating a smaller, pre-owned compressor into the system
  • Future-proofing the installation for increased demand over time
  • Ensuring maintenance accessibility and safety in a large, high-traffic facility

The Solution

Air & Power designed and delivered a dual-system setup with clear separation between high-demand applications and general workshop use.

System 1 – Sandblasting and Heavy-Duty Air Use

  • Compressor: Pilot Air PAC-75 Rotary Screw Compressor
  • Dryer: TFD120 Refrigerant Air Dryer
  • Use Case: Delivers high airflow with dry air to the sandblasting booth and powder coating area

System 2 – General Servicing Applications

  • Existing Compressor: Client’s own smaller unit
  • Dryer: TFD30 Refrigerant Dryer
  • Use Case: Servicing bays and general-purpose outlets

Additional Works

  • Hard air lines, hose reels, and outlets installed across multiple rooms and bays
  • Multiple isolation points added for easy maintenance and service flexibility
  • Custom handle fabricated for a high-mounted receiver valve to allow safe ground-level access
  • Hydraulic hose used for the sandblast connection to reduce vibration-related wear
  • System designed to allow future replacement of the smaller compressor with a larger unit without redesign

Project supervision and quality control were managed by Air & Power technician Callum Harrison, who oversaw installation and system testing across both phases.

The Results

Truck Centre is now fully equipped with:

  • A centralised compressed air system designed around their actual workflows
  • Reliable, clean air across all service areas
  • A separate high-volume supply for blasting and coating, ensuring pressure doesn’t drop across general servicing
  • A future-ready setup that can scale up as the business grows

The job was completed on time, with a clean, well-organised install and zero rework required post-commissioning.

“The dual-compressor setup and strategic use of air dryers ensure optimum performance across all operational areas.”

Why It Worked

This project worked because Air & Power took the time to understand the client’s entire workflow, not just compressor specs.

Rather than oversizing a single unit or overcomplicating the setup, we split the system based on usage, applied practical safety measures, and ensured the install was neat, accessible, and scalable. Every decision, from valve access to hose selection, was made with long-term performance in mind.

It’s a textbook example of a technician-led solution designed for both present use and future needs.

Lessons for Other Dealerships & Workshop Facilities

If you’re setting up a new workshop, especially one involving blasting, coating, or large air tools, your compressed air system needs to be more than just powerful. It needs to be:

  • Zoned correctly
  • Easy to service
  • Safe to operate
  • Built with expansion in mind

Air & Power delivers full-facility solutions across WA with qualified technicians, smart design, and proven equipment from trusted suppliers like Pilot Air.
